Loyalty
Members of The Obsidian Knights are expected to be loyal to the Guild. This includes not having another guild which you are a member of (with exceptions), helping your fellow guild mates, understanding that the guild will change and deviate from its original mission as we grow and accept more and more members into the Guild and finally, exemplifying loyalty as a trait – meaning that you have the courage and self confidence to be a member of The Obsidian Knights and be proud to be in the Guild as a whole.
Duty
As a member of The Obsidian Knights it is your duty to place the needs of the Guild above your own personal needs. Although The Obsidian Knights is known for rewarding members who exemplify duty as a trait you must understand that The Obsidian Knights exists to fulfill its mission first and foremost. When you join you have the opportunity to read the mission statement and see if our mission matches the goals and expectations that you have for yourself. If they match, and if you can exemplify duty as a trait, we welcome you into the ranks of The Obsidian Knights.
Respect
Respect is a three part expression within The Obsidian Knights. Respect the Leaders and Officers of The Obsidian Knights, respect your fellow Guild mates, but most importantly, respect for yourself. Your actions in-game should show that you have a great deal of respect for the Guild, your mates and friends and yourself. This being the case you should conduct yourself as is appropriate and respectful. If you have issues within the Guild please /tell a Leader or Officer. If you feel that your voice needs to be heard a little louder, use the feedback form on the forum to voice your opinion – but always keep in mind the three part expression of respect – respect the Leaders and Officers, your fellow Guild mates and friends and finally, above all else, respect yourself.
Selfless Service
Within The Obsidian Knights there exists an unspoken and often overlooked aspect of membership – selfless service. We expect our members to help the Guild and one another knowing full well that they may or may not be rewarded in the end. Selfless Service is a core principal within the Guild. It is more important than any other trait you will exemplify as a member of The Obsidian Knights. Those members who are selfless are consistently rewarded the most by the Guild. We do not keep track of “brownie points” or the number of times that you help others but we do watch our members and when it comes down to deciding which members have the greatest need in terms of reward we pay particular attention to those members who are selfless in their service to the Guild.
Honor
As a member of The Obsidian Knights you must be honorable in your actions and in regards to what you say in and out of the Guild. Being honorable means different things to different people but to The Obsidian Knights being honorable means standing by your word in what you say and ensuring it is reflected in your actions and deeds. Being honorable is a super-set of the Code of Conduct itself. It is through following the Code of Conduct and exemplifying excellence in-game that you will prove your honor. Keep this in mind and you grow and move forward in your membership with The Obsidian Knights.
Integrity
One of the most important aspects of the Code of Conduct related to The Obsidian Knights Membership status is having integrity. Integrity is following the Code of Conduct and Membership Rules itself. It is being strict and forthright in your actions, deeds and word. Not unlike honor, integrity is a super-set of the Code of Conduct. Members of The Obsidian Knights are expected to exemplify the highest integrity in-game. More than any other trait, integrity can make your life in the Guild very rewarding or can actually lead to removal from the Guild if your actions are not honorable and you do not exemplify integrity.
Personal Courage
In the end, what separates a good player from an exceptional player is courage. Courage is a trait that enables you to stand up for yourself, what you believe in and the principals and morals of the Guild as a whole. Personal courage says a lot about an individual. Without it, your voice will go unheard, your hopes and dreams will start to fade away and you will find yourself very unhappy. People without personal courage often leave the Guild because of the way they feel. They don’t realize that it’s not the Guild or the members of the Guild causing the problem – it’s a lack of personal courage that is causing them grief. Members of The Obsidian Knights should have a high level of personal courage. If you are someone who needs work in this area /tell a Leader of Officer about the way you feel and let us help you to boost your self esteem so you can exemplify personal courage in everything you do – both in-game and out-of-game.
